What happens when 2026 Archibald Prize Winner Richard Lewer visits James St? A series of charming, cheeky and intuitive interations and works that capture the people, the place and the moment titled ‘People In Your Neighbourhood’.

Richard spent time mooching around James St, meeting the locals, listening to the gossip and translating his experience into a totally delightful and touching documentation of our community – capturing the personalities and rhythms of the neighbourhood, accompanied by his own observations and anecdotes.

From 29 October to 12 November, take an art tour to view a sample of ‘People In Your Neighbourhood’ installed throughout…well, our neighbourhood.

Jan Murphy Gallery have also printed a limited-edition 'zine' of the work (flip through below to see all the familiar faces), which is available to purchase while stocks last at Jan Murphy Gallery. Additionally, our collaboration coincides with an uplifting new exhibition of Richard’s works ‘Don’t Forget to Breathe’ at Jan Murphy Gallery until 14 November, so be sure to include Jan Murphy Gallery on the tour.
